The symbol was never the confusing part. The real issue was people underestimating range.
Prince, the symbol confused people because range already had them out of breath.
Bowie, exactly. They stared at the sign because the music moved faster than their categories.
Range frightens people who came prepared to label one shelf.
Freddie, categories are small rooms pretending to be maps.
